Are Black men scary?

To be honest, when I hear the words “African-American male,” a stereotypical image comes to mind: it’s one of baggy pants and old cars decked out with chrome wheels and a blaring sound system. Of course, I’ve known many black men who did not fit that description whatsoever. Still, the picture is conjured just the same and probably due to several factors: 1) the portrayal of black men in pop culture; 2) the black men I’ve encountered at Metrocenter mall; 3) and commentary from white people on African-American men.
